Exchange with Collegio-Somar, Brazil-Lower KG

The students of both schools were made aware of the benefits of a clean environment and good health by observing days like 'World Environment Day' and 'World Nutrition Week'. They also shared moments of joy on their festive occasions.

In this exchange programme, students of both the schools gained a deeper understanding of the national flag, including the significance of its elements, fostering a sense of national pride and respect

Cultural Exchange with Yeonyang Elementary School, South Korea-Class III

The students of Yeonyang Elementary School, South Korea, and the students of grade III Birla High School, Kolkata, engaged in an enriching cultural exchange. The students of Yeonyang enthusiastically shared insights and vibrant imagery depicting the festivities surrounding 'Samiljeol', commemorating the March 1st Movement, and 'Hangul Proclamation Day', celebrating the Korean alphabet creation. They also illuminated the joyous occasions of the Korean Lunar New Year, Children's Day, and Liberation Day, each imbued with unique traditions and merriment. Meanwhile, the young scholars from Birla High School imparted knowledge about 'Poila Boishakh', the Bengali New Year, a time of colorful festivities and cultural exuberance. They shared captivating snapshots and videos capturing the essence of their school's celebrations, from the vibrant processions to the lively cultural performances, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation between the two distinct cultures.
 

 
 

Japan Exchange Program

VISIT TO OGAWA HIGH SCHOOL- 16 TH MARCH -24 TH MARCH 2025- A REPORT

The student exchange programme with Ogawa High School, Japan, was held from 16th to 25th March 2025 and involved 8 students and 2 teachers from Sushila Birla High School and Birla High School. It aimed to deepen the students’ understanding of Japanese traditions and education through hands-on cultural activities. Highlights included participating in a traditional tea ceremony, where a tea master explained the ritual’s significance and mindfulness. Students also engaged in an udon-making session, learning to knead dough and understand the cultural value of food preparation. Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement, introduced students to the concepts of harmony and simplicity in design. A calligraphy workshop allowed participants to practice writing kanji characters and their names with proper brush technique. The group also visited Omiya Kita High School and Matsuyama High School to experience Japanese school life firsthand. A day trip to Tokyo added historical and cultural depth to their experience. The programme helped foster intercultural understanding and friendship between Indian and Japanese students. This successful exchange is expected to continue in the future with new participants.

French Exchange Program

REPORT ON FRENCH EXCHANGE INDIA

After a successful visit to France by Birla High School students, 11 students and 2 teachers from St. Louis and La Paix came to India to continue work on SDG 16 and strengthen Indo-French cultural ties. They stayed from 28th November to 10th December 2024, immersing themselves in Indian culture. On 29th November, Birla High School held a special assembly to welcome them, followed by a meeting with the Principal. The French group joined the Class XI picnic to bond with BHS students. They visited Darjeeling from 30th November to 3rd December and then toured the school on 4th and 5th December, attending classes to experience the Indian education system. An interactive French session and cultural performances like a drill display and 'Tabla Tarang' were organized in their honour. In the evenings, the group explored the city, visiting places like Dakshinapan, New Market, and Mother's House. They toured landmarks like Victoria Memorial and Princep Ghat on 5th December and visited Chandernagore on the 6th. The following day, they explored Belur Math and on the 8th, Kumartuli, Baghbazar Ghat, and Jorasanko Thakurbari. On their last day, they participated in an English activity before bidding farewell, successfully concluding the cultural exchange focused on SDG 16.
