Marking the culmination of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebrations, with the initiative of the alumni association, three Param Veer Chakra Awardees - Honorary Captain Bana Singh, Honorary Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav and Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar were felicitated on 3rd August 2023 at the Vidya Mandir Auditorium. The programme was aptly called ‘Veer Tujhe Pranam.’ The Chief Guest was Major General H Dharmarajan, AVSM, SM**, VSM, General Officer Commanding Bengal Sub Area. Mr S. K. Birla and Mrs Sumangala Birla also graced the occasion.
The Calcutta Debating Circle (CDC), in association with Birla High School, organized a workshop-cum-debate under their Debating Excellence programme on 20th and 21st June, at the Vidya Mandir Auditorium. The event featured three participating schools: Birla High School, Sushila Birla Girls’ School, and Birla High School Mukundapur. The programme included the involvement of CDC stalwarts and prominent debating champions from four prestigious universities: Harvard University, University of Oxford, London School of Economics, and Yale University. The winners of the debate were Niilesh Ghosh of class X from BHS, Yugaditya Sharma from BHSM and Aishee Majumder from SBGS, who were to compete with the debating champions from abroad on 1st July, 2024 at JIS University.
The Birla High School Alumni organized their Annual Reunion on 12 th January at the school premises.The event was attended by approximately 250 ex-students. Around 16 retired teachers were felicitated by the Alumni who gave them a silver coin each. Batches of 50 and 25 years were felicitated by the school as well as the Alumni.
A Coffee Table Book Launch was organized by Birla High School Alumni on Saturday, 27th August, 2022 in the Centre for Performing Arts at Sushila Birla Girls’ School. This was a milestone event for Birla High School and first of its kind. The coffee table book titled ‘Darkness to Light’ was released by the Chief Guest, Rear Admiral Rajeev Parlikar, a senior Alumnus.
The Annual Musical Competition, ‘Funtakashari,’ was hosted by the Birla High School Alumni on 14 th September in the Vidya Mandir Auditorium. The winning team featured two members from St.Xavier’s (ALSOC) while Birla High School Alumni and Gyan Bharti Alumni secured the 1 st and 2 nd runners-up positions, respectively.
